Not good for much else....

So I decided to try a few recipes out. First I made Deep Dark Chocolate Cake with strawberry ganache filling and butter cream white chocolate icing. Oh my goodness, I can't even tell you how good this cake is. It does have quite a few steps to it but the end result is just simply sinful. Next, I had seen a recipe for LoneStar mac and cheese and having 2 boys that love mac and cheese I thought I would give that a whirl too. It wasn't that it had alot of ingredients it was the steps took forever. BUT I hung in there and the end results were great. It reminded me of the Kraft mac and cheese with the actual cheese in it not the powder but at half the cost. Very good recipe and I will be using this now. I don't know about you but I don't like recipes that call for things you have to go out and get because you normally don't have them in your pantry. So while I was at it I figured I might as well make some potato salad. This is another recipe that all my kids like but they can tell mom's from someone Else's. See what happens when you get a snow day from school? MOM cooks, ALOT lol.
Right now my oldest son is out on the 4wheeler trying to plow everyone out. Of course he did mom's first. Which I am grateful. This has been one of the worst storms that I've seen in several years come though here. Ice and more Ice then snow on top of that. And it's right down COLD out there. DH had to go pick up our daughter and take her to work. (she couldn't call in, she's the boss!) She had gotten stuck 4 times yesterday and when I spoke with her last night she was pretty out of pockets so dad got up at 4am and went and got her and got her to work. He said even with a 4 wheel drive it was rough going.
So now my baby (who's 6) and I are hunkered down in the warmth of home and planning on taking it easy while dad and Eldest son are out plowing everyone out. Who knows what we will cook today.... or clean today..... or post today. But you can be sure it will be in the warmth of home. I like home, don't you?

Bad Weather...... : (

Looks like where I live is going to get some bad weather. Now for us that work for the school this is good and bad. Good we get a unexpected day off but bad that we have to make it up at the end of the year. Suppose to get Ice starting tomorrow afternoon thur Tuesday...... so looks like I can go though a few more rooms if we have the days off. But on the other hand it means that I won't be able to get to St. Louis to get my pins out of my foot. Oh well, we all know how the weather can be around here. It might get us and it might not. Have a good Work Week everyone.

Man it's cold outside! BRRRRR

Where is that 50 degree weather that we have had in the past week? I got up as normal at 4 am and it was nice and toasty in here. Got ready for work, (YES, even bloggers have to go to work) and stepped outside to a nice chilly 24 degree's. The kicker is the weatherman is saying it's suppose to be 18 degree's by 3:00 with the wind chill being below 0! Now I don't live in Alaska and I don't like this weather. I want to be out in the middle of the lake sunning not wrapped up like a eskimo. So I'm thinking maybe soup is on the agenda for supper. Anyone got any good soup receipes they would like to share?

Also, I'll be sharing with you a GREAT site on diapers. I have a 21 month old granddaughter named Sophia that we are just absolutely crazy about. So, anytime I can find bargains for her (and so not so bargains) I jump right on there. So stayed tuned and I'll list that site and the great deal I got on diaper's for her and her mommy.
