Target.... has about Ticked me off!

Without going into details and I will when it's over and corporate has called or emailed me back with their answer. I am so put out with Marion Target that I could write a very detailed review on them but I'll hold my thoughts and tongue until tomorrow and I'll let you all in on it. Time to take a walk and cool off

Kmart/Walgreens

Kmart

If you don't allready have your coupons clipped for the double coupon event at KMart get to clippin. These sales normally produce several items that you can get for free. Here is what I'm heading after this morning

Dove Deodorant
skintimate Shave gel
Edge Shave gel
Tag body spray
Chinet Plates
Soft Scrub
Glade Reed Diffusers
Glade Candles
Scotch pop up tape dispensers

These items I know are free and a couple have overage. Like the tag is BOGO and I have a 2.00 off for the one I have to get for free so I get 3 for 2 coupons. Because the BOGO coupon doubles making it 2 for free. Then the 2.00 coupon doubled will make it 4.00 off and that one will be free. I know there are several more things that are almost for free and I'll be checking them out.

Walgreen's

This is the one I am looking forward to the most. Even though the checkout guy gives me a fit every time. Yesterday I had to take Zeke to the doctor so I ran though to finish up the therma care deal and he wanted to know if I was planning on getting the flu. I said this isnt for the flu it's heat wraps. Then he went on to tell me that the register knew who I was and it would not let him do 5 transactions. I said don't insult my intelligence. So today I'll make him happy and do 16 transactions. Here is what I'm getting

6 Emergen Boosters 3.49
6 Robitusson DM 2.49
4 Vaseline Sheer Lotion 6.99
6 Chapsticks 2.99
6 Dentek Dental 2.00
16 Herbal Essense Shampoo 2.99
4 Gillette fUSION razors 8.99

All the above you get the amount back that you pay in RR. With the exception of the razor and it's 6.00 RR. Making it CHEAP. Mine will be free because I have 22.50 to roll over on the previous RR. Then I'll roll the RR every transaction untill the last one and I'll end up with around 40.00 in RR for next week. Just keep rolling the RR and you will get up there.

Well time to get moving and head for the first store. Happy couponing!

KMart

Well I know I told you in class that Kmart was not having any more super doubles. Well let me eat my words. According to what I found out on September 27 they will be having a double coupons week. So keep watching and I'll keep digging to see what I can find out about our area Kmart store.

Hang on to those high dollar coupons. They will come in handy if they follow though with having this. Let's hope they do. : )

Is anyone reading this?

If so let me know. Leave me a comment so I know I'm not spinning my wheels.

Anyways, This next week I will not be on here much. John is having surgery on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and we don't expect to be home before Saturday and that is if everything goes allright. Please keep him in your prayers and throw one in there for me too. I'll update you when I know something. They are going to try and put the new knee in Wednesday and I can't tell you how ready I am and I know he is. 6 months without a knee is long enough. The good Lord has tried my patience and I've come though so I am now hoping that it's all down hill from here.

Have a good week and remember to leave me a comment

Couponing 101

Give it some time. Couponing is simple

I only got to the expert level of couponing by working at it & that involved some hit & miss. And I'm still learning. I normally pay 5 to 10 percent for a item and that is usually the tax part of the item.

From my experience couponing you should never pay for things like toothpaste, deodorant, home fragrances, make-up, lotion, dog treats, frozen vegetables, razors, soap, shampoo, or candy, School Supplies, toilet paper and the list is endless. These are all things that can easily be free after combining a coupon with a sale price. However, its taken some time for me to find that I don't need to spend more than $1 on a 12-pack of Coke
Once I find a super low price, I stock up & don't pay more than that amount again. Since I have a stockpile - I don't have to. I can use my stockpile until the sale comes around again. And it will come around again.

If you start couponing tomorrow (SUNDAY) and get at least 2 coupon inserts a week you will start seeing your free stuff in about 4 to 6 weeks. You might have to hold onto that coupon till the item goes on sale. But rest assured it will go on sale and you will get it for next to nothing.

Coupons basic’s

Where to find them:

1) Sunday Newspapers - These are the biggest sources of coupons. To find additional copies, check recycling bins or ask your family/friends if they are using theirs. There are anywhere from none to three inserts per paper. For a preview of upcoming coupons, click here.

Newspapers- If there are 4 insert’s in the newspapers then I might buy 10 papers. The cost of the paper will be given back with the use of the coupons

COUPON INSERT SCHEDULE:

9/13 — Smart Source & 2 Red Plum
9/20 — Smart Source & Red Plum

11/1 — Smart Source, Red Plum, & Procter and Gamble VERY GOOD
11/8 — Smart Source & Red Plum

December
12/6 — Smart Source, Red Plum, & Procter and Gamble VERY GOOD
12/13 — Smart Source & Red Plum
12/20 — No Inserts scheduled
12/27 — No Inserts scheduled

2) Mail - You can sign-up for coupons from Red Plum

http://www.redplum.com/Pages/ViewArticle.aspx?articleid=3173

3) Free Samples - Signing up for free samples is a great way to get some higher dollar coupons. I'd advise creating a separate email address for "freebies."

4) In-Store - You can often find coupons called "blinkers," which are the little machines that spit out coupons by the products they are for. There are also "tear-pads as well. You can sometimes even find "peelies" right on the products themselves.

5) Printable Sites - Two of the big printable sites are Coupons.com and Smart Source. These coupons rotate week after week and sometimes even have maximum printings that when the limit is reached, they are pulled off the site. So if you see one you think you might need, you should print it. (You can usually print two per computer.) Other sites are Cool Savings and Ever Save.

Show example of Smithfield Bacon Coupon

6) Blogs - Blogs are a great place to find coupons. I stumble upon several at my fellow blogger's sites throughout the week.

7) Search Engines - If you are looking for a specific coupon, just type the brand name followed by the word coupon and you might be able to find one that way.

8) Join Groups/Surveys - There are some groups you can sign-up for that will offer/mail you coupons from time-to-time. Some are:
Vocal Point
Shoppers Voice
Upromise
Ebates
Cashbaq

9) Manufacturers Websites - More and more manufacturers are hosting coupons on their own sites now. If you use a lot of a particular item/brand, check their website to see if they offer coupons. If they don't, email/mail them and request some. I've gotten a few this way.
http://www.couponsinc.com/corp/source/cp_clientlist.asp This site has them by name

10) Magazines - By far, the magazine with the most coupons lately has been All You magazine, which you can only get by subscription or at Wal-Mart. The price of the magazine is well worth the coupons inside. Make sure you check your magazines to see if there are some inside.

11) Free Periodicals - Some stores will have local news books that have local area coupons inside. (For Chicago, try Chicago Parent and Family Time)

12) eBay - There are several coupon clippers that sell their services and send you coupons for a fee. Just type in the product and the word coupon to see what's available. Be sure to go through Ebates to earn 3% more.

13) Forums - There are several great forums out there to check into. The top ones I've found are WeUseCoupons, HotCouponWorld and AFullCup. You have to register at each of them, but it's free.

14) Store Websites - Make sure you sign-up for your local store's loyalty programs and register at their websites so you can get emailed coupons. Here's a list of some stores with their links. You can also sign-up to have them pre-loaded at Shortcuts or Cellfire.

15) Phone Book - Don't forget to check your phone book for coupons for your local area businesses.

Here are a list of common sites that regularly offer coupons:
Coupons.com
Smart Source
Pillsbury
Very Best Baking - Nestle
Family Cents
Eat Better America
Box Tops for Education
Red Plum
Target Coupon Generator
Shortcuts.com
Cellfire.com

Join a Coupon Exchange - Anyone interested in starting one in our area?

Where to use them:
Every Store you purchase from use a coupon. Whether it’s .25 off or 2.00 off. Use the coupons for your purchases

Stockpiling:

In order to truly stockpile...you have to have more than 1 coupon. You can only use 1 coupon per item, so 1 coupon will get you only 1 item. Stockpiling requires more than 1 coupon...which is why I always get 10 newspapers or more per week. I get mine for free from family, friends, and neighbors. I encourage you to do the same.

Stockpiling is where I am now. (SHOW PICTURES) When I find something that is free I buy as many of that item as I can get for free. WHY? Because even if I don’t use it I always know someone that does.

Example: Reese’s Candy bars 90 candy bars from Target free. Everybody loves candy!

General Mills Cereal: 1.00 coupon/they are .99 at Target

CVS

Tip #1
If you don't have a CVS card, stop by your local store, and fill out an application. You will get your card right away. I also recommend picking up the weekly ad, and the Extra Value Book ( a booklet that lists all of the EBC deals for the month). Normally, all of these items are located together in a centrally, easy to see location. However, if you can't find it, just ask a cashier, and they will show you where it is. After receiving these items, you will need to scan the ad, and booklet for "Free after ECB'S" offers. If these are items you or someone else in your family may use, then this is a great place to start!

Tip #2
I highly recommend shopping as early in the week, or month as possible. The deal products sell out very fast!

Tip #3
Start Simple. Start by only purchasing a couple products at a time. Once you learn the CVS game, you'll then be able to attempt the more complicated deals.

Tip #4
Only shop at CVS for the deals that are listed on this blog,
other websites or blogs, or from the CVS weekly ad. As soon as you start buying items NOT on sale, you will start spending quite a lot. You will still need to do bargain shopping at other stores as well.

Tip #5
In order to play the CVS game, I've found that usually every week, I'll buy at least one thing (that produces ecb's) which we might not need, or use. However, I know that I can use these items to donate, giveaway to friends, or family, or sell at a yard sale. My goal is to earn as many ecb's as possible, pay as little out of my pocket as possible, and leave CVS with bags full of products. Even though I might buy something that we don't necessarily need, I know that in return, I will receive ECB's, that I can then use to purchase the things that we do need, or want, with only paying very little out of pocket. However, you need to remember to primarily only buy what you will use & work on your stockpile.

Tip #6
Always make a plan before shopping at CVS. Every week I always write a list, calculate how much money I am going to pay out of pocket, then I'll gather my coupons, and paperclip them to my list. When you get to CVS, stick to your list, and don't buy anything else (unless of course it's free, a great deal you missed before, or something marked way down on clearance). If you just walk into CVS unprepared 3 things could happen, #1 you'll spend too much money, or #2 a deal you thought was good, turned out not to be, or #3 you'll be there forever trying to calculate everything! Trust me, the more organized you are the smoother it will go!

Tip #7
This is VERY Important! Always, give the cashier your CVS card first! Your ecb's will not print off if you don't give her the CVS card! After the cashier scans all of your items, then give her your special CVS coupons (if you have one). For example: if you have a coupon for $3 off any $15 purchase, or a coupon for $4 off any $20 purchase. Next, hand the cashier your manufacturer coupons. It is very important to give the cvs coupon before manufacturer coupons, because the price may be lower than $15 after your manufacturer coupons. Finally, pay with any ecbs you want to use, then you'll pay the actual out of pocket amount. If you just hand over the whole stack at once, things could get confused, and a good deal could possibly turn bad. So please remember this tip when shopping at CVS!

Tip #8
The Cvs goal is to roll over ECBS again, and again. The first time you do a transaction, you will need to pay money. But if learn to grow your ECB'S, then your next transaction will cost you very little. How do you grow your ecb's? The easiest way is to stack manufacturer coupons with free after ecb deals, to stack manufacturer coupons with any ecb deal, or to purchase any free after ecb deals.

Tip #9
I have learned a lot from reading at Money Saving Mom. Head on over there to check out her CVS deals as well!

Tip #10
Have fun with CVSing, Good Luck, and "Happy CVSing!"

EXAMPLE:

Colgate Toothpaste 2.49 limit 2
Get 2.00 EBC’s

Total cost of toothpaste 4.98
Use 2 - 1.00 off Manufacture coupon -2.00

Actual out of pocket (OOP) 2.98
EBC’s earned 4.00
You are actually now 1.98 ahead
Walgreen’s

Register Rewards- These are very similar to CVS's "ECBS." Basically, a register reward is a special coupon that prints out from a separate machine, (like a Catalina) when you buy -X- amount of products. For example, say if you buy a bottle of Advil, then you'll get a $1 register reward. Register rewards can be used just like a manufacturer coupon, or like paying cash

Unlike CVS register rewards do not roll over. Which means you can’t buy the item then turn around and buy another one and get the Register reward for it. You have to use your register reward for another item that is on sale that week or you can save your rewards for the following week and come out paying nothing.

However, I don’t tend to use Register Rewards much. What I have found with Walgreen’s is if you go into their store. Start with the first aisle and look for the tags that say clearance. These don’t mean that the item is out of date or soon to be out of date. This means they are clearing the shelf either not having them anymore or they have a over stock of the item.

A recent visit Tiffany and I got 8 33.8 oz bottles of Scope. They were clearanced at 2.49. I had 2.50 off 1 manufacturer coupon. So we paid 0 for all 8 of them. That’s stockpiling

KROGER

Kroger is one of the stores that I know will actually give you your savings back in money. I recently went in with 16 coupons for 16 packs of Smithfield Bacon.

Total: 79.84
Kroger Plus card savings: -32.00
16 coupons -48.00
Kroger coupon -3.50
They gave me back -38 CENTS

Getting Started:
I'm sure that most of you out there already have a Kroger's Plus card! However, if you don't have one yet, the first thing that you need to do is to apply for one! Go to the Customer Service desk at your local Kroger store & ask them how to get one! There are several benefits of having a Kroger Plus card!
*Get $.10 off per gallon of gasoline, for every $100 in groceries that you buy. (Points program)
*You can only get the sale price on items, with a Kroger Plus card!

Coupons Tips for Kroger:

*The first thing that I wanted to share with you is that Kroger has a program called Electronic coupons! E-coupons are coupons that you don't have to clip. All that you need to do is load the coupons that you want onto your Kroger Plus card! When the Kroger Plus card is scanned, the coupon automatically comes off! The best thing about E-coupons is that you can also still use a paper manufacturer coupon for the item as well, for even more savings!
For example only (not a "real" deal) say Tide laundry soap is on sale.
You load the $1 off e-coupon, and use a $1/1 MQ. So you would then get $2 off instead of just $1! It's pretty easy! There are 2 places that you can get e-coupons for Kroger

http://www.softcoin.com/Sites/PG_eSAVER/Page/HomePage/

http://shortcuts.com/

*A Catalina is a coupon that prints out from a separate machine, next to the cash register! On several occasions, Kroger will run a deal, such as buy product A, and get a Catalina coupon for $4 off your next order! Sometimes you are able to do this deal over & over again, and pay very little out of pocket!

*Kroger also runs promos pretty often, when you buy 15 products, or $10 ect. then get $5 off your order automatically at checkout! These sometimes can be very good deals, when you buy the participating products & use coupons!
Remember Kroger doubles coupons up to 1.00

Say you have a .40 cent coupon it would be worth .80 at Kroger
If you had a .55 coupon it would be worth 1.00

Even if they say Do Not Double. Kroger will double them

My local Kroger store also accepts Internet Printable coupons & they work the same way as a regular manufacturer coupon!

*During a Buy one get one free sale, you should be able to use 2 coupons-one for each item to maximize your savings. But, please keep in mind that different stores coupon policies could vary!
*During a sale like 10 for $10 or 2 for $5 (ect.) You do not have to buy 10 products (ect.) you would just get each item for $1 ea. (ect.)

*Tip--Always look through your Kroger Catalina coupons before shopping. And remember to grab your Catalina coupons that print out. And keep your eyes open for good Catalina coupons that someone else has left behind! I have found free coupons for free products, that other people have left behind!

*Kroger’s also mails out a mailer on a regular basis that has Kroger coupons in it! So make sure that your mailing address that is attached to your Kroger Plus card is correct, so that you can receive these valuable coupons!

Rain Checks If any item you were planning on purchasing is out of stock, don't forget to ask for a rain check, so that you can still get the good deal when the item is back in stock!
Earn $ while reusing bags at Kroger! Have you ever noticed the big brown bin at the entrance to Kroger? It is for recycling your plastic bags! So, never throw away those extra plastic bags! Just drop them off in the bin, on your way into Kroger! I always reuse my plastic grocery bags at Kroger! Why? Because for every bag that you reuse at Kroger, you get 5 gas points. Most of you are probably saying, 5 gas points--big deal. Well this is my theory-- every time that I shop at Kroger (at least once a week) I use at least 10-12 bags. If I use 12 bags every week, that is an additional 60 gas points. And in my family-every penny counts! Because eventually it adds up. 60 points times 52 weeks (1 year) equals about 3120 gas points a year. And that is free money in my pocket, just for reusing plastic bags & helping the environment! When I unpack my groceries every week, I put all the bags together into one bag & then I put them right back out in my car, so that the next time that I go to Kroger, I won't forget them.

TARGET

I used to think I couldn’t live without going to Wal-Mart. Now I use Wal-Mart for only free stuff or when I need a bakery item. Or of course when I can get it for free or almost free.

Target has became by favorite store. Why? Because I can walk out of Target with a ton of stuff and have only paid the sale tax’s on it.

The thing with Target is if you get a good clerk she will ring everything up at once. If you get one that is going to follow the rules to a T then you will stand there why she rings up one thing at a time. Why because it says one transaction per coupon on the Target coupons and she takes that to mean she can only do one at a time. I personally don’t mind standing there for free money. But that’s a call you will have to make.

Target has a coupon generator. You can find it here:

http://www.afullcup.com/target-coupon-generator/?referrerid=174726affid=154:10

Combine these with manufacturer coupons and you will walk away with a lot of free stuff!

Remember: Use all the coupons you can for each item. If your in a hurry don't go couponing. You may have to wait to get checked out. Happy couponing

couponing 101 Class

Hi there.
Grab and seat and sit a spell. I'm going to start posting regularly on here starting this week. I plan on having the deals for the week posted at CVS, Kroger, Walgreen's, K-Mart,Target, Walmart and a few other's that are just to good to pass up. I'll try and get them posted by Sunday Mornings when the stores open. It's hard to post Kroger, Target etc because I don't get the sale bills till later in the evening on Saturday but as soon as I do I will post them. I'll also try to set up the transactions for you. If you have any questions please feel free to leave me comments or email me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
My blog is pretty simple it's not high society and easy to understand and I think you will enjoy it. I also will post my savings and pictures of how my shopping went. I do have a facebook page if you want to add me there but I feel you are pretty limited to how much you can post on it. This way I can do all the stores at once and you will be ahead of the game. So thanks for coming and remember to keep clipping those coupon's.

I'm BACK!

As most of you know my husband got very sick back in May. I'll post this later. It's still on going and all prayers are appreciated. We have a long road ahead of us.

However, I'm back in the coupon game. Going strong. The bad thing about not keeping up with the coupons week to week is you basically start over. So that's what I did. I know how have my coupon base back to where it was before May (and then some). So now I can start posting the deals. SO keep checking back and I'll keep posting. Let me know if you are still here and what you need.

To my coupon buddy from Marion who wanted the baby stuff give me a yell. I've got tons for you now

Long Time

It's been a long time since I posted. But, with good reason. First being that I'm trying to sift though my parents belongings and get things ready for a auction. The auction is May 16th. Talk about alot of stuff! I don't think my dad threw anything away for 50 years!!! Slowly but surely we are getting though it. It's been a long task. Then right smack dab in between going though all this the pins and plates in my foot decided that they were going to come out. So I had to have my right foot replated and that's been a trip in itself. The had forgotten the pain that came with this. I did however get the stitches out this past friday and was told 3 more weeks of no driving. ARGH! Alot of sitting with ice and my foot elevated. This too shall pass. I am so ready to get back into couponing. I havent been couponing since my father passed away. Over a month now, I guess my drive just isnt there. Somedays I sit and think what would my dad want me to do with all this stuff and it becomes so overwhelming, but I also know that I have to get my mom closer to me.
Well I won't bore you with anymore details just wanted you to know I am alive and kicking. Kicking slowly but still kicking.
Have a good day and enjoy the family and friends that surround you.

Please bare with me.......

Short post to let you know that I'm doing OK. Even though, the loss of my father has really set me back. I guess I really never did think he would pass on. But this is a given in life.

My mother, bless her has really been thrown for a loop. They lived about 2 hours south east from me and after many talks it was decided that since they lived on a farm that there was no way possible for us to drive that 4 hour trip daily or even 3 times a week to take care of her and the farm. So, after much prayer and thought we put the farm on the market Saturday. I ask that you remember to pray that the farm sells quickly so we can get her closer to us. I think it is a good thing for her and also for us. It will allow us to take care of her during this time. My mother is 68 and not in good health to begin.

So now we have the big task of going though everything and condensing so that she can move into a smaller home. Oh what a task it's been. This past weekend we got though the living room, 2 bedroom's and the bathroom. Now we have 2 bedrooms, dining room, laundry room/mud room, Kitchen to go though. So I still continue to pray for strength during this trying time in our lives.

Like the old saying goes " The good Lord won't give you more then you can handle" but I do believe that he takes you to the end of the rope. We are hanging on with the hope and belief that better days are ahead.

Thank you for remembering us in your prayers.

My Eulogy to my dad.

As the eternal optimist, I never wanted to believe this day would come. I really believe that a man as courageous and strong as my Dad would live forever. But I find hope and peace in knowing that Dad is at peace and in heaven. The place where he strived to be for many many years. That he means so much to me and my family – and so many of you.

I am now the middle child, but for 16 years I was the baby. The bond between a daughter and her father is strong. I always knew
My father loved me and I loved him.

When I started to put my thoughts about my father on paper, I went back in my mind to being 5 years old and standing beside my dad at the fire station so proud that he was the man that could drive the big fire truck and he was my dad.

Of the time when he arranged for Santa to catch me under the Christmas Tree shaking presents with a little coaching from him. Always looking for the laugh.

Making the man stop the carnival ride in Shawneetown to get me off because I was scared and crying. My protector, My Dad

I remember laying in my grandma Hayes back bedroom with my dad listing to the rain hit the tin roof with dad tracing around my eyebrows, eyes and lips and drifting off to sleep.

I remember Aunt Nellie and Aunt Jody watching me and waking up crying for my dad and not settling down till dad came back. My security, My dad

I remember thinking that my father was the most handsome man in the world. Even, though I don’t remember him without gray hair. But what hair he had.

Dad was strong and a bit of hard headed and for this I did take after him. We didn’t always see eye to eye but we always came back to each other and knew that we still loved each other no matter what. “When I look at all the influences in my life, my Dad is right there

He had given me his bible a few years back and in the front it says, Dot, to get you though the rough times, for happier days, love Dad

For myself, This message is still loud and clear….

I think Dad would want us to celebrate his life with Christ, To love one another, To let the little things go and embrace life head on.

I searched the bible looking for a verse that fit my father and I came upon this:

John 17:4
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

I don’t pretend to think that dad was a saint and did no wrong. He was human. But I do know that he finished his worked that he set out to do here on earth and now dad is rocking Nerissa and asking where’s the popcorn and milk?! And asking if there’s any raisin pie.

Dad you were loved while here on earth and you are still loved in Heaven. I will miss you terribly but I have the inter peace of knowing that I will see you again one day.

I love you, Your Sam

Another week of no good deals

First we go without any coupons which was bad enough. But then, WAIT there was not any good sales that I could see. The only sale that I got was 16 Kraft Mac and cheese from CVS for free. Free because I had found coupons at our area grocery store for 1.00 off a box. I took some of them and held on to them until the sale at CVS. Good deal of the week, only deal of the week.

I sure hope this next week turns out better......did you find any good deals?

And how was your week? and coupon inserts this week

Well after our insurance episode I figured that everything would quiet down. NOOOOOOO, we still don't have the insurance completed on our house, motor home or boat. But they are working on it. Famous last words. : )
Then my youngest son had the lenses come out of his glasses so I run them over to the eye place. Get them fixed and on the way out the door I decide to grab a pot of tulips for my daughter and a bouquet of balloon's for my very special grand baby, Sophia. I rush out the door. Sit everything on the hood while I wrestle with the balloons. Then I hop in and drive off. Did you get the hop in and drive off part? No mention of getting the glasses off the hood of the CAR!!!!
Yup they are now somewhere in a 10 mile stretch....... and my youngest has no glasses. I jump back in the car and go back without finding them. So 210.00 later we have a new pair ordered Huston.........
This has been a expensive week around here. I don't dare say what next....... but you know a beach in the Caribbean is sounding so good.........

I also want to mention that there is not suppose to be any coupon inserts this week. That's a BOO! What's wrong with these people? Do they not know us couponers depend on these things?

A Insurance deal that was SOUR!

I debated about posting this, then though why not?! There are surely people out there that this has happened too or it's happening too and they need to know. So here's my story. It might be a little long but worth the reading. After you read it you might just want to check your policies and make sure you are covered. If this could happen to me, it could happen to you!

On Monday it was a hectic day around here. After work I had a doctors appointment to check my ears after having the tubes put in. I am happy to report that my hearing went up 40 percent! Yes 40 Percent, then it was hurry to my oldest son's ballgame. I made it with 2 minutes to spare before the game began (and yes they did WIN!). Then it was hurry hurry to get my youngest son who is 6 a bath and in bed. It was getting to be around 8:30 at that point and he can't function on 6 hours sleep. So I run though the shower after getting him settled down and it dawned on me that I had not checked the mail. So to the mailbox I go. Let me tell you it's a good thing my mailbox is right by my front door. I would not of wanted the passerby to see me in my Jammie's. But, hey there were clean. That counts for something doesn't it? LOL

So I get the mail and I thought wow the freebies have been great today. I got 5 magazines and a few other things including my 2 liter bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper. But back to the story, I dropped all this mail off on my desk and went to do a few other things when I thought "that was alot of mail today". So I come back and thumb though it and there was several letters in it from ABC insurance company. ABC is NOT the name of my insurance but for here it will be. We have everything though them. Trucks, SUV, RV, Pontoon Boat, jet ski's, Our home, rental home, My scooter and hubbies Harley motorcycle. So I opened it up and it says this:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. XXX

We value your service as a customer. However, do to non payment your policies will be cancelled on Feb. 22, 2009.

Thank you,
ABC insurance

I was like WHAT? We paid these policies on September 30, 2008 in full though our agent. This has got to be a mistake. So I pick up the phone, knowing that there probably wasn't someone in the office at that time of night and called. Low and behold someone picked up the phone. I explained why I was calling and she said can you hold while I pull of your accounts. I said sure, knowing that they were going to find this was a mistake and everything would go back to Happy land. Well she comes back on the line and says

Mrs. XXX your house insurance for both your home and rental has not received any payments and is due to be cancelled on the 22ND of February. I said WHAT? You got to be kidding me. I paid this in one lump sum back in September with my agent. She said well apparently you didn't. I said could you check and tell me about the other claims. Well I was told that they haven't been covered since October, 2008. I was in SHOCK. All the blood came running out of my face and ended up in my feet! Literally. I Kid you not.

SO I thank her and thought this has got to be some kind of joke. I had our insurance agents cellphone and decided to call him. I call and he says Hello, I said hello and he hangs up the phone. I'm thinking not a smart move. So I call back and this is what I said.

Mr. POS (not his real name, even though I should post it and might later)

Mr. Pos this is Mrs. XXX and I don't care if you have to stand out in the middle of the highway to get a signal you best be calling me back, because of 8 am in the morning I will be contacting the Insurance comissioners office first thing. And, with that I hung up.

And you know what? Mr. POS called me back within minutes. I mean I barely got the phone sat down and it was him calling back. So we have this conversation:

Mr. POS: I'm sorry, they made a mistake and I'll take care of it in the morning. I don't know why they can't get this thing right. I'm going to take care of it.I'm on the way back from a funeral and have been gone for 2 days.

ME: No Mr. POS your not, this is what your going to do. I'll be at your office at 8am and we will have a conference call with ABC insurance and then I can know which one of you is lieing.

Mr. POS: Ok then

ME: GOODBYE

So, I call in to work and take a personal day. Just how I wanted to spend my personal days let me tell you. So I figured I had better get ready to go to bed since I need to be on my toes to handle this. Other things were just sitting waiting and I had no idea.

10:54 my phone rings

ME: Hello

Mr. POS: I wanted to call you back and tell you I couldnt talk cause I had a car full of men (not exactly what he said MEN but for the sake of this we will leave it at that) and I couldnt talk. I'm sorry you are so upset.

ME: Wait, you got it all wrong. I'm not upset. I am LIVID, no I am PISSED! You got I am literally pissed off. What did you do with my money?

Mr. POS: This is all a mistake and I can take care of it in the morning. I said you are right you will take care of it in the morning. Because I'm going to be at your office and we are going to have a conference call and if I find out you lied to me this is what I'm going to do. First I'm going to stop at the count house and I'm going to file a suit against you for stealing my money, Then I'm going to stop by the newspaper and find a reporter to print my story, then I'm going to file a complaint with the Insurance commisioner and if it's the last thing I do I'll get your license if I found out you took my money.

What he said next threw me for a loop and I am not one easlier shocked.

Mr. POS: I know I've done things that are wrong, I know I should of not done it. If you call the insurance commisioner you will be taking my lively hood from me. What can I do to make this right so you dont' do that. I have to have this job to support my family.

ME: Ok, well first off you should not of taken my money which I'm now hearing you say you did. So you can return all my money that I paid you back in September, 2008.

Mr. POS: He said how much?

Me:I gave him the figure (several thousand's of dollars). I said and I don't want a personal check either because you tried to pay for my policies back a few weeks ago and bounced a check to them and I'm not taking a personal check. Cash or cashiers check. that's the only thing I'm taking.

Mr. POS: Gave me 2 days to come up with this money.

ME: NO you have until 10 am tomorrow.

Mr. POS: Ok I'll see what I can do

With that we hung up.

I didnt sleep after that. I tried but 2 girls decided that it was prank phone call night and called for the next hour and half off and on. I finally ended it at 3 am when I called and called until their mother answered the phone and said why are you calling at this time of morning. I said lady, maybe you should ask that of your daughters........ I've had enough drama for one night. LOL

So next morning, I get the boys on the bus (thanks to the sub for working for me) and I get over to the insurance agencies office. I took my 22 year old daughter with me. You know, witness in case there was something to witness. Well we came in and was in the office and we stood by the door. he finally came out of the back room and pointed to his desk and said it's right there. Right there being a envelope with my name on it. I opened it up to find a envelope with a cashier's check in it made out to my husband and myself. I shook my head ok and he said. Take care and I hit the door with daughter in tow.

So you would think that this is the end of the story would'nt you? Well it's not. The best is yet to come.....

So now the realization has hit that I have no insurance on anything that we own. So I get on the phone and start calling and I called 7 companies

The first 6 call back with I can't help you......you have had a lapse in coverage and we can't cover you. You are high RISK! High RISK? It isnt my fault that I had a insurance agent take my money. What am I going to do?

I finally get insurance on 2 trucks and 1 SUV but nothing else.

So today I'm working on getting insurance on those. But I will say this, I feel lucky to have gotten my money back. I have since learned that the insurance agent has his home in foreclosure, That the company has pulled his license and he can't sell their insurance anymore and they have turned him in to the insurance commisioner of the state and he will probably be losing his license before very much longer.

Am I happy? No I'm not. I do not wish for anyone to lose their home, exspecially in this day and time. I'm not cold hearted. However, I also think that even in bad times you must keep your morals and with morals I do believe comes not stealing from people and lieing. I hate liar's and Thefts more then anything.

So you might what to double check your insurance and make sure you have insurance and your paid up. Even if you agent says you are. In the defense of ABC insurance I received a call from their cheif security officer and was told that they would be glad to give me to a another agent and let me keep their insurance. I just can't help but think that I need to distance myself from this mess and start over. Even if it means more money out of my pocket. I've lived and I've certainly learned.

Our Local paper and Coupon inserts

In yesterday's Sunday paper we should of gotten 4 inserts. I only got 2 of them and they were the 2 that didn't have much in them. So this morning after I got home I called our local paper. This is the conversation:

Me: Yes, I was trying to find out how many coupon inserts where in yesterday's Sunday paper.

PAPER: I believe there were 4

Me: Well my paper only had 2 inserts in it. Where would of the other 2 went?

PAPER: Well sometimes we run short and we then just don't put them in certain area's.

ME: You have to be kidding me? I pay you for the paper to get the coupon inserts and you are telling me that because you didn't have enough for whatever reason then I just don't get mine?

PAPER: Yes that is correct.

ME: Well then can I buy the inserts directly from you?

PAPER: No, You have to buy the paper

ME: Well if I am a subscriber and I paid for the paper and didn't get my coupon inserts then why would I buy another paper to get what I should of gotten to begin with?

PAPER: I have no idea.

ME: THANKS you just answered my question.

Me: Well I guess the Post Dispatch is looking better every week. Thank you.

They just lost me as a subscriber. I pay to get what I'm suppose to get. The Post Dispatch just earned my business.

Not good for much else....

So I decided to try a few recipes out. First I made Deep Dark Chocolate Cake with strawberry ganache filling and butter cream white chocolate icing. Oh my goodness, I can't even tell you how good this cake is. It does have quite a few steps to it but the end result is just simply sinful. Next, I had seen a recipe for LoneStar mac and cheese and having 2 boys that love mac and cheese I thought I would give that a whirl too. It wasn't that it had alot of ingredients it was the steps took forever. BUT I hung in there and the end results were great. It reminded me of the Kraft mac and cheese with the actual cheese in it not the powder but at half the cost. Very good recipe and I will be using this now. I don't know about you but I don't like recipes that call for things you have to go out and get because you normally don't have them in your pantry. So while I was at it I figured I might as well make some potato salad. This is another recipe that all my kids like but they can tell mom's from someone Else's. See what happens when you get a snow day from school? MOM cooks, ALOT lol.
Right now my oldest son is out on the 4wheeler trying to plow everyone out. Of course he did mom's first. Which I am grateful. This has been one of the worst storms that I've seen in several years come though here. Ice and more Ice then snow on top of that. And it's right down COLD out there. DH had to go pick up our daughter and take her to work. (she couldn't call in, she's the boss!) She had gotten stuck 4 times yesterday and when I spoke with her last night she was pretty out of pockets so dad got up at 4am and went and got her and got her to work. He said even with a 4 wheel drive it was rough going.
So now my baby (who's 6) and I are hunkered down in the warmth of home and planning on taking it easy while dad and Eldest son are out plowing everyone out. Who knows what we will cook today.... or clean today..... or post today. But you can be sure it will be in the warmth of home. I like home, don't you?
